A book about photosynthesis for children of all ages
Posted by John Sterman on 10/21/2009
Folks,
This book may be of interest to those of you seeking to teach kids about complex natural systems. Penny Chisholm is a colleague and friend here at MIT who teaches ecology; she founded our "earth systems initiative" (http://web.mit.edu/esi/) in which modeling plays an important role.

Subject: A book about photosynthesis for children of all ages
Dear Friends, Colleagues, and people I have yet to meet,
Apologies for invading your inbox.
Convinced that the next generation should understand "how life works" if it is going to develop sustainable practices, I teamed up with an award-winning children's book writer and Illustrator, Molly Bang, and we made a book about photosynthesis (see attached e-card). The book targets 5-10 year olds, but is written for children of all ages (it has detailed notes at the end for parents and teachers). It is available at Amazon.com or Scholastic.com, as well as other major booksellers.
Please pass this on to anyone you think might be interested. We are hoping the e-card will "go viral" (as publishers have no funds for marketing these days!)
With all my best wishes,
Penny Chisholm
