I have been interested and looking into developing an open source port of DYNAMO, maybe in R, to help make the DYNAMO language for the reasons below and provide a way for students to build earlier models. I agree with Bill's post. I have a student team this semester rebuilding the urban model for their project, and it has proved to be an invaluable experience for them to learn the principles of system dynamics. If anyone is interested in working on an open source port of DYNAMO, please let me know by sending an email with your interest to phovmand@wustl.edu.
