Stafford Beer developed a model based on vertebrate nerve structure called the viable systems model or VSM. It is all about the kinds of channels, amps, filters etc that make up an organization. I used the model for many years, predating Senge's work. The model is not easy, and the original books, "The Brain of the Firm", and "The Heart of the Enterprise", are blindingly expensive, but it is a very effective analytic tool. If you wish to explore it, I might be able to help. Dexter
