You say, "What do they do that is so creative." I have the impression that the public schools are moving in the direction of suppressing innovation. Standardized tests are narrowing the breadth of education and are limiting the time and interest in exploring things outside of the standard studies.

Critics who are trying to explain the disappointment in schools often observe that the students are bored, but then do not take the next step of trying to understand the boredom and how to create an exciting and engaging education.
