Steve, Thank you for your reply. I have not seen that video but it sounds fantastic and the kind of exercise to demonstrate to people themselves how partial their thinking processes are. I am working up some talks about how we see "problems" and what limitations exist that we do not see. Kuhn talks about flashing playing cards on a board in front of students and asking if they see anomalies and changes in the patterns. There is a wide range in answers. There are other exercises where the initial perception of the problem locks you in to only a particular solution.
Richard Pascale in "Managing on the Edge" entitles his Chapter nine: "The question is the answer." This guy is a practical CEO and the early part of his book is filled with charts and data from Fortune Magazine so he is no useless dreamer. But at the end he starts to discuss the nature of the question being asked- as opposed to the nature of the answer. It connects with dialogue and other Learning Organization/Senge topics. A very surprising turn around from the start of his book. Your talk sounded interesting. If there are sources for it I would be interested in learning more.
Thanks for your response. Henry Cole
