K-12 Teacher Award Announcement
Posted by Susan Ragan on 1/10/2007
To the System Dynamics Community:
Here at Montgomery Blair High School, system dynamics has been part of the science and computer science curriculum for nearly 20 years. Mary Ellen Verona, a computer science teacher who founded the Maryland Virtual High School of Science and Mathematics in 1994, spent the last eight years of her life providing opportunities for high school science teachers to learn how to best use computer models in their classrooms. She believed that teachers were the key to providing students with access to the computational science tools and methods that scientists use on a regular basis. In her honor, an award has been established to recognize those individuals who use computer models to enhance student learning in K-12 classrooms or after-school settings and who actively share their strategies and methods with others.
