Over the last few days I've reflected on Dr. Forrester's challenge. My thinking at this point is a bit schizophrenic - I cannot offer a succinct defense of ST and I cling to the notion that it has some value.
My rationale - and it rises to little more than that - is that an appreciation for the general connectedness of things (ST) may open doors into the more precise and explicit description of real world behavior. I am swayed by the mental model that our societal fascination with reductionism is so pervasive that a conceptual wedge ("foot in the door") is useful for setting the stage for receptivity to SD.
