Citizenship in the global community of the 21st century calls for environmental awareness and literacy, and it must begin with young leaders taught by engaged teachers who are fully supported by their institutions to make a difference. By attending this exciting new environmental leadership institute, educators of all disciplines and in both traditional and nontraditional classrooms will learn effective teaching strategies that?you can incorporate into?your own classes.?Become energized and ready to return to?your school or education center to implement curricular change.

A series of one-week institutes cover a wide variety of environmental education topics such as curriculum design; using community mapping techniques in the classroom; ecological field studies; laboratory investigations in environmental science; designing computer simulations using systems modeling software; place-based community education strategies; environmental literature as a teaching tool, and changing your best traditional labs into inquiry-based labs.

The E.E. Just Environmental Leadership Institute?based at Kimball Union Academy in?New Hampshire is a unique and integrated summer environmental studies program. Our mission is to train and empower participants to become the environmental leaders of tomorrow. Students investigate an environmental problem in a two-week journey of field research, laboratory investigations, and group problem-solving. All walk away with new ideas, skills, contacts, and most importantly the inspiration to become environmental leaders.?

Exploring?Climate Change?- July 22 - August 4, 11 to 16 year olds
Spend two weeks in beautiful?New Hampshire?working as a team to come up with real solutions to the threat of global wamring while understanding how land, air and water all have a role to play in our world's mounting climate crisis. Choose from our campus based program or head to the coast for a marine focus.?Both options feature field trips across New England, laboratory experiments, guest speakers, community projects and group problem-solving!

Student Institute in Costa Rica?- July 22 - August 8, 13 to 18 year olds?

Travel to Costa Rica for a?three-week adventure, learning about environmental science and policy, biodiversity of tropical forests, community leadership, and immersion into Latin American culture!
