I recently came across an upcoming workshop by John Tyler about his work with the Cincinnati Public Schools, where he's looking at various forms of data vs. student achievement. See here, http://www.brown.edu/Departments/Education/personnel.php?who=jhtyler,
scroll down to Research Projects. This strikes me as a systems-rich approach to thinking about how individuals may thrive or not in a school system, considering both teacher professional growth and the culture carried into the system by its students. The workshop is coming up at Harvard on Wednesday, see http://www.hks.harvard.edu/pepg/colloquia.htm.
