Bob's story tells us that Joe is a savvy to closed-loops, albeit in a street-wise way - it helped him pick the right kid to whale on! What an excellent example for young students whose playground world is filled these relationships that they sometimes have a hard time understanding.

One of the more sophisticated aspects of closed loops is that the effect is distant in time and manifests itself somewhere in the system that we least expect or often ascribe to the wrong cause.

When we introduce or describe or map such a complex, delayed closed loop, what words help your students see it?
