Subject: Modelling in Education

Message:

Hi all.

I am trying to learn more why modelling in general and SD in particular are not widespread in our schools.

Here in Brazil after some years trying to work with these ideas with teachers and schools we came up with 2 big reasons:

- teachers do not have enough time to spend learning new pedagogical proposals and new tools (specially computer tools),
In Brazil teachers normally work at 2 or 3 different schools at the same time (from 07.00 am to noon, them from 1 pm to 6 pm and sometimes from 6 pm to 10 pm;

- teachers do not know modelling and for some of them to learn how to program is a demanding task, specially when they do not come from the hard science area (math, physics, geography, chemistry,...)

Does anybody know about articles and/or other material that discusses about these ideas ?

Thank you for any help

Regards,

Fabio Ferrentini
