Whether they are being imaginative or creative and innovative, common to both is the fact that they are on their own at the time, using their own resources and prior learning to make their way and achieve results. They are not under the control or supervision of adults, and they are not in a prescriptive, structured environment in which their actions and thinking are determined for them.
