As part of an Arizona Improving Teacher Quality grant, a group of us will be working with middle school science teachers to improve their pedagogical content knowlege in science with a systems lens. We will be doing evaluation and I expect to be doing research for my doctorate on teachers and/or students' understandings of systems in ecology. In addition to the work of Frank Draper I suggest looking at the research of Kathleen Hogan. I expect to develop or adapt strategies to probe people's understanding, and would like to be in contact with others who are doing similar work.
