Before this, Tim stated that “Our educational institutions and all the attendant apparatus sustaining said institutions are set up for parts only”

Why is this? Because the organizations and people who make and control education policy have society believing that learning is all about content-recall and has nothing to do with thinking. This model of “learning” is easily/economically measured (standardized testing), keeps them (the current power structure) in power, and serves their social system quite well (profit!).

Root cause answer: adoption of a false model of education by society, social control, and economics.

We must work to change this system to one like that which Barry Richmond describes in chapter 1 of the “STELLA User’s Manual” (http://tinyurl.com/29ksnx5) and is at the heart of learning (and is what Tim was saying “every school should do.”). Interesting that John Dewey seems to agree as well (http://tinyurl.com/23rxoq5)
