We talk of bored kids, and yes, they're bored in class. It reminds me of this scene from State Fair ...

Complicated curriculum. Standards. Big textbooks. Closing in on a trillion dollars a year, for goodness sakes! And yet we see what we see.
"Complex System"?

The metaphor of the lever moving the world, to me, is contradictory to viewing the system as "complex".

But that's a different story.

Does all of this have to be that difficult? And structured? And regimented?

For example, here's a brief article the kids (14 and 12) and I wrote today regarding a simple question: Why is Gardner, Kansas, called "Gardner, Kansas"? As in every single one of these "simple" investigations, an incredible amount is learned ...
