Hi! I'm also working on the doctoral process. I've been a bit hesitant to jump into the group because I may be taking what may be a different approach. My dissertation involves teaching teachers how to use a stock/flow with their elementary students as a tool to "translate" teacher's classroom rules into observable actions so that kids can understand. I presented this idea quite a few years ago at Skamania (?) and at Atlanta. The big trend in our state is the use of graphic organizers, so I'm taking advantage of the commonality and acceptance of graphic organizers that is already in place. Teachers don't shy away as much if one uses familiar, comfortable terminology. I'm working on the concept of psychological contracts, casual and formal registers in language, combined with mental models. If anyone has any research or studies, send 'em my way, please.
