An excellent book on system thinking without actually mentioning it by name is Collapse – how societies succeed or fail by Jared Diamond. It is full of system related problems, situations and soluations. Very fascinating.

Some research finding incorporated in to the Global Environment Outlook 2000 showed that there is a wide difference between the perceived environmental threats form the point of view of experts and the general public. Eg, toxic chemicals are seen as high risk by experts but hardly acknowledged by the public.
