When I was working with teachers, the ladder of inference tool was the best way to make individual assumptions and thinking visible to a group. In one class, when asked to find an example, break their thinking down into each step on the ladder and then share it with the class, one teacher was running up his ladder as he was telling us about running up his ladder. As a continuous improvement process tool this is the best.
